Nutrition vs. Exercise
Which component is more important in the battle to stay lean, fit, and healthy? Is it nutrition? Is it exercise? Is it just plain old genetics? Or is it a synergistic combination of the three?
If I were to rank these components of fitness  in order of importance, it would look like this:
- Genetics
- Nutrition
- Consistent Exercise (Intensity)
Several factors influence this ranking and need to be taken into consideration. Aside from genetics, I would tend to place nutrition and exercise on the same line. Those who exercise consistently and intensely (and have most of their life) understand that you have a little more leeway with your dietary choices than those that never exercise, moderately exercise, or sporadically exercise. Those that only monitor their nutrition and do not exercise face the downside of not building lean muscle, strong bones, and a strong heart. And finally, those that moderately exercise and do not watch their diet tend to put on weight and typically don’t understand why. Consistency and moderation are the key. We are all born with a body. How fit our body ends up is our choice.
It is not just one component of fitness that leads to a healthy body, but a combination of all three working together. It much easier to learn proper health and nutrition at a younger age and you will reap the benefits as an adult. It is never to late, but it gets harder the longer you ignore your health. Be aware of yourself everyday and never get behind!
Remember, your physique is born in the kitchen and fueled by exercise!
